Work with us
We are made in Malindi Kenya. Coast Sustainable Fisheries Group (CSFG) is a social enterprise dedicated to sustainable fishing practices that focus on access to market & the improved welfare of 250,000 fishermen along the East African Coast.
About
CSFG
At CSFG, we firmly believe that the welfare of our fishermen is crucial to the success of our mission. Therefore, we prioritize the reduction of post-harvest losses, drive a circular economy in our processing, improve access to medical care, and provide our stakeholders with access to key markets in Kenya and beyond. Our ultimate goal is to improve the livelihoods of 250,000 fishermen along the East African Coast, one fish at a time.
Our approach is based on sustainability principles that promote the preservation of our natural resources while supporting the livelihoods of our local communities. We are committed to using environmentally responsible fishing practices that minimize the impact on our ecosystems while ensuring a consistent supply of high-quality fish for our customers.
We are laser focused on bringing Value. We produce organic fertilizer from our post-processing waste, and bring value to local women fishmongers by collecting their waste for production.
By providing digital wallets for payments and credit scoring we bring marginalized communities into the fold of digital financial inclusion.
We believe that our success lies in our ability to create value for our stakeholders while maintaining our commitment to sustainability. We invite you to join us on this journey towards a brighter, more sustainable future for our fishermen, their families, and our planet.
Market Challenges
we are obsessing about
The CSFG mission at work
Poor market access
They rely on brokers who in most cases, take advantage to offer them very low prices (Sometimes as low as $0.75 per KG of Tuna)
Lack of infrastructure
& storage facilities
Basics such as ice, safety gear, the right engine capacity, cooling facilities among others, represent the most critical needs for fishermen
Poor access to finance
Accessible loans are very costly and prohibitive
Inshore Overfishing and declining fish stocks
They have to go deeper into the ocean and they do not have the right equipment to do this safely.
CSFG Fisheries in Africa Series
We have observed a critical market linkage problem
It is estimated that 98% of households in Kenya consume meat although the frequency and amount of meat consumption may vary based on factors such as income, region, and cultural practices.
Fishermen earn as little as $0.75 for 1kg of Tuna at the landing beaches while the same Tuna retails for $13 just 500kms away in Nairobi and as high as $50 in London.

We believe in Responsible Consumption and Production
We are laser-focused on bringing Value by harnessing actors across the fishing value chain into one circular movement. We produce organic fertilizer from our waste and bring value to local women fishmongers by collecting their waste for production.
